My name is Stan Mitchell from cape Town, South African. I cannot ever remember seeing a Honda 400N in SA, but I have just bought one, semi stripped down, in the process of being converted to a Cafe Racer. I intend to restore it as close as possible back to the original 1981/2 look. I believe most of the pieces are there but will certainly be needing some new decals (Red colour bike). Also both exhausts are dented but hopefully a local custom exhaust shop can either knock out the dents or make some reproductions. Importing from UK or US of too many items will make the restoration expensive. Regards to you all - you will be hearing more from me. This must be the eight or ninth Honda that I have owned.

Hi, welcome, will it be the NB or NC? It may be expensive anyway, but the post makes it worse! Say someone was passing through Cape Town and had a little space in their bag, is import easy, customs limit? We like pictures, I'm using .imgur.com/ as photobucket is virtually unusable at the moment. Keep us updated on progress, questions and the wanted parts list!

Thanks to all of you guys who responded to my introduction. Certainly makes me feel welcome and not afraid to seek advice in the future. Thanks to na44superdream for the pics of the various models. I will only be able to check the serial numbers tomorrow or Friday, so will let you know. I want to paint it in the correct colours. Thanks also to those of you who used a little afrikaans. Jou afrikaans is miskien better dan myne as ek het in Durban en Engeland gewoon vir die meeste van my liewe.
I viewed a "barn find" today in the hopes of finding potential missing parts. In shocking condition and and asking Pounds 400 for the wreck. Will sow some pics when I can
