Hi Having a problem removing a Stubborn ROTOR from a CB400N Superdream. I have purchased an M20 x 2.5 Pitch (50mm Long) Solid Setscrew as a Rotor Puller but the Rotor seem Seized on the Shaft. In order to Grip the Rotor, It seems I need to use a Heavy Duty 'Pin Wrench' which fits into the two Slots in the Rotor Face. (Hand drawn Sketch Attached) Does anyone know where such a Wrench can be obtained? Or perhaps, suggest a better method for removing the Rotor. Regards Wilf

Hi ,
Did you mean to put M20 x 2.5 pitch as I think it maybe 1.5 pitch.

Yes, I think it is 1.5 pitch.
You have two ways of attack, either fix the rotor (I have drilled two holes in the right distance at the end of a long bar, put two bolts through the holes and used them as fixing pins on the rotor. Held the other end of the bar with my foot and undone the rotor using the oil filter bolt.
The other, easier method is, if you have the clutch cover off to jam a piece of cloth between the cogs of the clutch and the oil pump, that way you do not need a helping hand and/or silly acrobatics and you can work on the alternator bolt easier. Also in order not to get anything damaged screw in the 1.5pitch bolt, tighten, undo, WD40, tighten a bit more, undo, and so on. Sooner or later it will come off.
What you should not do is to fix the rear wheel, put the engine in gear and try to undo the rotor. There is too much flex in the system, and you miught damage the weakest link inside the crankcase

Hi , Did you mean to put M20 x 2.5 pitch as I think it maybe 1.5 pitch. I was thinking that the bolt was binding in the rota thread and not even reaching the end of the crankshaft to pull the rota off.

Have you got the rotor bolt undone or is that what you're struggling with?
If the engine is in the bike, put a bolt in one end of a bar, I used a length of angle iron cut it to length so that it will reach the floor, make sure the bolt doesn't go too far into the rotor and it should hold the rotor while you try the following: To undo rotor nut put the bar in a hole to the left of the crankshaft to stop it turning anti clockwise to screw in the puller put the bar to the right of the crankshaft as you look at it.
Tighten the puller bolt up to put some pressure on then carefully tap the rotor with a hammer or rubber hammer, tighten the bolt a bit more then another tap it will come off eventually It's on a taper and a Woodruff key and a tap or two usually shocks it and breaks the hold it has in the taper.
