has anyone tried the silver engine paint from d silvers
and what do you think of it

I did try a VHT of similar type, can't remember if it was the same make, I found it a bit crap, I followed the distructions to the letter, it was a silver, I heat cured it as instructed but it just scratched so easy.
For mid temp stuff like crank cases I tend to use Halfords Aluminium Engine paint, good for 180c, doesn't need curing coats well.
