You know I'm not as mechanically minded as an aircraft engineer like you.
But does the difference between 0.10mm and 0.12mm actually matter? I mean like a missing a spring washer for example? A NASA space shuttle blew up in 86.

In the Honda Handbook the 250 specs are in brackets and line up with the Haynes ?  .12 mm inlet , .16 Exhaust & I guess for whatever reason the 400 runs slightly tighter clearances . And I was working for Rockwell at the time too.............  |

Maybe Honda actually got it wrong rather than Haynes.
They even mention a 'CB250N DX' in that handbook which never actually really existed. The CB250ND-B was the official deluxe identifier.

Logic says you should set it to the HONDA handbook supplied with the bike not a pattern maintenance book
Would check my SD handbook but mislaid it at the moment

So the Haynes and the Honda handbook have the same data and the same clearances for the 250 but the wrong model designator . 250 clearances in the square brackets as it was a sort of "add on" model to the 400 ?? 250 clearances 0.12 mm inlet , 0.16 mm exhaust 400 clearances 0.10 mm inlet , 0.14 mm ehaust |

I see the following:
Honda state 0.10mm for the inlet and 0.14mm for the exhaust
Haynes state 0.12mm for the inlet and.......
J'know what. I'm a berk. I've just noticed something. The 250 is in the brackets isn't it?

I did too, spent about an hour last night, trying to figure out the discrepancy but didn't like to show my ignorance to ask what.
I should have the "courage of my convictions" !!

Glad we got that sorted then. My attentions are now turning to checking that thing behind the right hand (clutch) cover that can cause mechanical noise according to Haynes.  |
