Got another box of bits from DS today for my CL350K0 , including a pair of airfilters , the parts and the boxes they come in are pristine , looking like they were made last week , not 40 years ago. I know he buys up shops stock etc but does anyone know how recently Honda made parts for old bikes , ie I thought it was for up to 10 years after production they supported them ? All good anyway being able to buy genuine new parts for a 50 year old bike with no problems at all .

I've wondered where Silvers parts come from when they say 'this part will be special ordered in for you' Usually it says 5 - 7 days, but sometimes it's 14, so must come from different places. When I was rebuilding my 500/4 in '89/'90, I got some parts from Silvers, but most came from Honda via the local dealer, even though the bike was 16 years old. The dealer told me all parts were still available & made in batches when an order came in. Don't know how true that was, or if it was, when it ended, but I got everything I ordered.

There are some of my CL filters on the US Ebay and they say "Recently made by Honda" and are in the same brown Honda branded box as mine, my parts I've received never look like they have been in store for 20 or 30 years . Honda always used to be one of the best for getting bits for older bikes but making them for bikes 50 years old is getting a bit extreme !

Many of the SD bits I've got from them don't look to be very old. I got a nla airbox rubber for the 125 from ebay recently in the old style packaging with a piece of paper inside with the part number on it. You could tell the rubber part was 30 years old. By contrast, the rubber parts I've had in the modern packaging with the part number label stuck on the outside look like they were made yesterday.

Good point Ian , yes my filters are in the modern packaging with the label on the outside of the box not the bag with a"ticket" in it . Got to make their money where they can

Honda makes some (or most) of the parts, as they don't change things if they work - I have been buying fork seals and bits and bobs of rubber parts from my local Honda dealer. Turns out, my brother's 750 Honda made in 2015 has got those very same parts

Its not so easy getting parts for the tl125 that I'm restoring now. I'm sure glad I bought lots of nos stuff years ago when it was still around, but I still need a few elusive parts to complete a full nut and bolt resto, hopefully I'll track them down eventually.
