I would not be chemical welding the case on, get some car sump silcone... It's the nuts nuts on leaks just go easy as it a bugger if it gets in the engine. But I would get a sheet of glass and wet and dry and just flat the case off then replace any seals.. Then give it a smear of silicone..Job done www.cmsnl.com/honda-cb250n-1978-england_model15802/partslist/E12.html#resultsAs for the bolt Bin it and replace it, eBay is a good place, cmnl what 35 plus delivery which is a total joke.may be go begging on wanted, some kind sol may have one kicking around..

I think somebody has attepmpted the methods mentioned above... There is a lot of sump grey silicone, tfl tape on the thread of the bolt, even the head of it was drilled through and wired to the side of the cranckase. Who would have gone into such lenghths, I do not know (but I guess it will be the same person, who grinded off the oil filter bolt and welded on an allen head). By the way, I kind of like the allen head solution, I will not be able to strip that, a size 12 allen head, that's quite massive I already swapped some of the hex heads (as they are nightmare to work on, as they have no edges anyomre) for allen bolts... Wazzbo - the dot on the balance chain is at 12:30-ish, so that means I have plenty of chain length left?

But again, the only way to find out, where is the crack (if there is one) to clean the surface properly and sand it lightly... Is there a way to find hairline cracks, if they are not visible to the naked eye?

Yes your chain is very good at 12.30, hardly stretched at all.

Racers have to drill bolts and wire lock them, maybe its been raced? Or owned by someone that did ? My mate was race mad till he crashed and was forever trying to convince me that I should wire lock my sump bolt...but never did lol.. As why would I need to on a road bike? Suely they would have done this at the factory if it was necessary on the road..
