hi all I picked up a very sad early 400N with a plan in mind, this has completely turned and I am now going to race it at the BHR meetings this season in the pre 1981 under 500cc air cooled class . I have pulled it apart and I am slowly gathering bits to rebuild it . Pictures to follow during the build.

Fungo. No its black what was left of the paint ! but very brown everywhere else ( rust ) but its really only cosmetic once stripped the frame and swinging arm seem fine , they are at the blasters with other bits at the moment. To cut some cost and save time I decided to clean the rust of all the components and then nickel plate them myself, I have never tried anything like this before but as long as I am careful and follow the instructions I am sure it will be fine. With regards to cleaning the rust off I have purchased Phosphoric Acid and so far I have been very happy with the results. |
