JUST BOUGHT A SECOND HAND CB250N ENGINE REMOVED FROM THE BIKE. ASSURED BY THE SELLER THAT IT HAD ONLY COVERED 25000 MILES AND WAS IN GOOD CONDITION.
ON INSPECTION IT WAS THE SAME OLD STORY,THE RHS (ALUMINIUM ALLOY) CYLINDER HEAD PLUG THREAD WAS STRIPPED.
IF ONLY RIDERS WOULD "OIL" THE PLUG THREADS BEORE FITTING THE PLUGS. *********************************************************
DOES ANYONE KNOW WHERE A PLUG THREAD "THREAD RESTORER" CAN BE OBTAINED? AT ONE TIME HONDA MOTOR CYCLE DEALERS STOCKED THEM. (AND SOLD AND HIRED THEM)
I CAN NOT FIND ONE IN MY AREA. ANY INFO GRATEFULLY RECEIVED.

My wife's CB125 had helicoils in the plug threads & one of them was starting to unwind. The local machine shop replaced them with time serts, which they reckoned were more robust. www.threadrepairkits.co.uk
