I primed mine & sprayed with halfords satin black, pretty close to original

I use Simonize tough black satin finish, it says no primer needed but I use grey etch primer first.
If you let it harden for a few days its a good tough finish and very like the original.
You need to make sure the old paint in the lettering is cleaned out then after you've sprayed them the lettering is still deep enough to take the green paint. I use humbrol lime green for that job.its number #38
