I,ve just purchased a speedometer and the mileage is less than the mileage recorded on my bike , when I bought my bike it had the wrong model Speedo fitted so I replaced it with the correct one for the bike but on this occasion my replacement had more mileage so I was,nt worried about it as far as the MOT was concerned, in all honesty I have no real idea of my bikes mileage which is a shame but as it,s a well used daily rider , my concern is if I fit my replacement Speedo will this effect my MOT as it as less miles on it as recorded on the previous MOT , anyone know ?

They don't bat an eye lid on the MOT, Paul.
I replaced a speedo on my deluxe - it had 22k on it and I found a nicer one with 11k on....thus the first few computerised MOT records has 22k, then a drop to 11k.
It will show on the MOT history as since 2006 it has all been logged on DVLA MOT history (a useful tool if you are buying any vehicle).

(Keep the old speedo for reference - it will back up the facts if you ever do sell the bike).

Thank you Fungo I really was,nt sure, it,s a shame I don't know the original mileage but when you buy a 30+ year old bike without old MOT,s that's the way it is , as it,s a daily rider for 8 or 9 months of the year I,m OK with that , Thanks again 👍

Check out this one. A bike I owned from Nov 1996 to Oct 1997. It was a black 250NA - I bought it from Wallingford, Oxfordshire and it was technically my first 'big bike' after passing my test. It was a rough one - had a crumbly motad on it, filled fuel tank in the usual leaky area and 42k on her clocks. I also rounded off the oil filter bolt and never really gave her a proper oil change because of that - she never let me down though.....and then I got knocked off her at a roundabout in March 1997. Sold to a man in Basingstoke in battered condition.....took delivery of SBY that month so she was surplus to requirements. The MOT history is interesting. Have a a look on here at VNP 585V. A further point of interest - she was blue the last time I checked in 2014 - now she's back to black.....lol. www.gov.uk/check-mot-history
