HONDA SUPERDREAMS
WHEN FITTING SPARK PLUGS ALWAYS OIL OR GREASE THE THREADS. THIS WILL HELP PREVENT THE THREADS STRIPPING.
DON'T USE NON RESISTOR SPARK PLUGS. CORRECT TYPE IS DR8ES-L OR EQUIVALENT. NON RESISTOR TYPES WILL HASTEN AN ALTERNATOR BREAKDOWN (INSULATION FAULT)
GLASS FUSE SUBSTITUTES. (15 AMP,20 AMP,30 AMP) CERAMIC (HOUSEHOLD) FUSES CAN BE USED IF GLASS TYPES ARE NOT AVAILABLE. 13 AMP WILL DO FOR 15 AMP. (NON STANDARD 15 AMP CERAMIC FUSES CAN BE FOUND) 20AMP AND 30 AMP IMMERSION HEATER TYPE CERAMIC FUSES OF SAME DIAMETER CAN BE SUBSTITUTED HERE. CERAMIC FUSES ARE NOT AS LONG BUT WILL DO THE JOB.
IGNITION FAULT. CHECKING THE SPARK AT THE PLUG. (FIT SPARE PLUG INTO PLUG CAP AND PLACE ON ENGINE) ALWAYS CARRY OUT A TEST IN SUBDUED LIGHT OR DARKNESS. NORMAL SPARK IS BLUISH AND BRIGHT. WEAK, YELLOWISH SPARK INDICATES FAULT CONDITION. (CDI UNIT FAULTY OR ALTERNATOR BREAKDOWN. ET AL)
HEADLAMP BULB QUARTZ REPLACEMENT TYPE. THE CORRECT STANDARD HEADLAMP BULB IS TYPE R2 55/60 WATT. CHEAPEST SUPPLIER I FOUND IS EUROCARPARTS (ONLINE) THE 12 VOLT, 4 WATT BC SUPERDREAM BULBS ARE ALSO CHEAPER FROM THIS FIRM.
WHEN FITTING AN OLDER TYPE 'ONE WIRE' FRONT INDICATOR, ALWAYS CHECK THE EARTHING. THE INTERNAL EARTHING STRAP CAN NOT BE RELIED ON AS AN EARTH CONNECTION. EARTHING IS OBTAINED FROM THE INTERNAL HEADAMP FIXING BRACKET WHICH SHOULD HAVE AN EARTH LEAD. MY ONE DID NOT HAVE THIS EARTH LEAD. I HAD TO FIT AN ADDITIONAL 'EARTH LEAD' BEFORE THE INDICATOR WOULD FUNCTION. FOUND THIS FAULT USING A WIREMANS BUZZER.
THE REAR BRAKE UNIT IS HELD IN CORRECT POSITION BY AN ARM WHICH IS FIXED USING AN M10 NUT, STEEL WASHER AND RUBBER WASHER. I FOUND THAT A 3/4 INCH 'TAP WASHER' WILL DOUBLE AS THE RUBBER WASHER.IF ORIGINAL IS PERISHED.
EXHAUST MANIFOLD STUDS. ALWAYS OIL/GREASE THE THREADS BEFORE TIGHTENING UP. THIS WILL PREVENT THE STUDS SEIZING UP LATER.
IF ANYONE HAS ANY MORE SUPERDREAM TIPS LIKE THIS, PLEASE CREATE A THREAD.
REGARDS WILF
