Jack Butlers in Leamington Spa was the place to go for Brit bikes, had a smell of oil/petrol/exhaust fumes and Woodbines as Pete the mechanic chain smoked them lol.I still recall the smell of my new Starfire when I stuck it in the garage after a good thrashing every day

Frettons of Leamington were not connected in any way with the bigger store in Coventry also called Frettons. They sold Lambrettas,Hondas,Suzukis,They were not a dealer one would hang around outside at weekends. A family business up untill not too long ago,I never bought any bikes from them but my brother bought a new CX500 in 1978,I had a few issues with them over the years. They were never competitive on pricing their bikes or with trade ins,I used Jacks for Brit stuff and dealers in Coventry

Slightly different direction to this thread - unfortunately Pride and Clarke in Stockwell are no longer there - this is the log book for my C15 proudly bearing the Pride and Clarke stamp
Still don't understand why BSA made the bike with 5 difference between frame and engine number
Did anyone have one of these when they were legal documents
