I'm an RAF Brat and brought up to respect this day- and I have lost friends and workmates in a couple of the more recent conflicts. I am here today and they are not.
So listening to Radio 2 this morning, fore-warned on the upcoming minutes silence on the 11th hour of the 11 day of the 11th month- I went outside and stood in quiet reflection.
And I noticed the guy in the unit opposite- who I am only on nodding terms and know nothing about- had also come outside and was also standing for the minutes silence.
Moved me- I like this man so much more so for him to also do that for our fallen comrades....

Been in Germany and Belgium this week - did not feel comfortable wearing Poppy in Germany - surprising how many people enquired in Belgium why I was wearing the poppy - That's for a country where armistice day is a bank holiday. Listened to Radio 2 (mid-day across there) via the internet in the offices, only one in there and absolute silence in an office that is normally full of activity.
Will be watching the BBC tonight for the British Royal Legion of Remembrance.
