I need to replace chain & sprocket as old ones are a bit "hooked" shape. As it's a street tracker type build shall I lower the gearing? Also is it worth upgrading chain spec or stick with a £60 set?

Hey! I wouldn't change gearing, especially would not lower it, as it is low to start with. I did the opposite, changed the front sprocket to a tooth larger and it gave me more or less an extra gear. We had a discussion here about this a while back, nobody really thought this being a great idea, as the bike loses power, but mine is either sh*t on power to start with, or the old chain was in such a bad shape, that I have not noticed a power loss (but fuel consumption remained EXACTLY the same, go figure) I ride the bike (a 400N) mainly in town, and the higher gearing gave me a smoother run over 40MPH (lower revs). If you lower it, you might run into changing gears all the time, and there are six of them, so you would have something to do all the time See the thread I talked about here -> honda-superdream.co.uk/thread/7062/rear-sprocket-boomerang-comstar

You will have to ask somebody else too, but I'd think, the JT standard sprockets are all that you need. Chains are a different story the better you buy, the longer it will serve you ( but you might not need a chain, that's costing five times as much, as an another one, as it won't be five times as good). Also a 530 chain is thicker, sturdier, than a 520 one, so no need for the latest diamond encrusted wizard-alloy god knows what it to last. Lubricate it often, check tension often, and you should be OK with DID o ring forever. One thing though - if buying a crap chain you will have to sooner replace it alongside the sprockets - all has to be replaced in a set
