Not posted a lot lately as very busy, but I do love my new vocation when it produces results like this that I just sit and look at them. Done for a well known member of this parish...

Sending my complete engine to a company in Willenhall to soda blast. I presume you have soda blasted that sump casing?

Sending my complete engine to a company in Willenhall to soda blast. I presume you have soda blasted that sump casing? No, this casing was vapour blasted- soda blasting would produce a more Matt finish and would not have been safe for the bearing and toleranced surfaces.....

This is the finish we are aiming for- to replicate the original Honda painted finish- but without the paint. To do this we need to peen or seal the aluminium surface to a waxy, slightly polished look....

Superb! How does it stand up to oily fingerprints and staining?

Very well so far- the test piece was YHV's oil filter cover and that's been back on the bike for a few months now- photographed upside down today! And the NC29 sprocket carrier has been laying around the office for quite a while with everyone trying to put smudges and marks on it or scratch the "paint" off........

I highly recommend Paul`s work, He has done the carbs on my 250 and the barrel on the 250 and I`m very pleased with them, the finish is excellent and doesn`t stain when handling them, I`ve had oil on them and it cleans off with no staining unlike some work I`ve seen.
I have seen some pieces that have been at a couple of other places and to be honest they were a disgraceful job, bits of gasket left on parts not dismantled before blasting and a bloody awful finish on them that marked as soon as you touched them and the marks couldn`t be removed.
I had some cases and a rocker cover done elsewhere and vowed I`d never have anymore done as the finish was so crap, it was only after seeing the quality of the work that Paul does that I decided to try again and I`m glad did.
The crankcase above is mine and I`m having the barrel and head done from my 400 plus two more 400n barrels, I have a set of 250 carbs which will be next on the list to do as carbs look really good when Paul has worked his magic on them

Steady on Dave- I only paid you a fiver to say nice things! Trust me guys if Dave the perfectionist is happy I know I'm good for everybody else! I mean- he has given me a NOS set of barrels to process- straight out of the box, also the set he took off which were mint anyway- plus yet another set of bored out ones and he is going to choose the best to fit? I bet the NOS ones go on.... Finished the 400NA engine parts this morning- some photos destined for the website and I think Daves latest resto is gong to to raise the bar still further. Parts look gorgeous- barrels are the NOS ones- head and casings Dave's originals...

I bet you will as well! What pistons do you have coming from Japan- standard or 25 oversize?
