Hi. I think the frame numbers started at 2000020. Mines 2000196 so subtract one from the other. ( Think thats the correct number of zeros!)

I tried it for my bike - a 1978 400N - and which ever way you look at it there aren't too many of those around! Something the D.O.T site doesn't have is engine / frame numbers and I've always been curious if mine is a rarity. The frame number is 20000196 - which I presume means it was the 176th bike imported. Does that make sense? According to Honda the first CB400N SuperDream into the UK was actually 2000034, which would make your bike the 162nd bike imported. But whatever- it would have been in the release batch used to initially stock the showrooms. I assume "S" reg?

I was using the frame no info from the Model Identifier page.
"Frames were numbered between 2000020 ~ 2027217. These bikes were typically registered between 1978/S and 1980/V suffix registration"
But it's academic anyway - just interesting.
It's actually a "T" reg.
