Hi, I'm new to this forum! I have a 1979 CB400 Superdream. I was wondering if anybody could offer me some advice; the path I push my bike in/out of is quite narrow and has a U-turn in it and I have managed to brake 3 indicators (1 front and both rears) in the last 12 months! The rear ones are a particular pain to replace, so I've temporarily taped the current damaged one in place. What I was hoping is that somebody might know of an alternative fitting and indicators that can be used with the Superdream model as I really don't like the standard ones. I did find these: www.ebay.co.uk/itm/201197518194?_trksid=p2055119.m1438.l2649&ssPageName=STRK%3AMEBIDX%3AITThough I don't know whether they will fit or whether they are really any better! Any advice would be much appreciated! Thanks, Tom

Hi Tom and welcome , TBH I am not a big fan of after market indicators and none that I am aware of are a direct fit to the SD , need a hole drilling in the headlight ears and mudguard usually . How about using a M6 nylon bolt to hold them in place ? - hopefully it will shear rather than snap the indicator ?

HHave Tom, welcome. I've had the same problem due to too many bike squashed into too little space, but as bojer said, the fixings are very specific to the SD so I've not come up with an acceptable alternative. You could get some with an inline stud as in the link & use them as headlight mounting bolts at the front & drill a couple of holes either side on the mudguard for the rears. The problem would then be what to do with the brackets left sticking out where the originals were - cut them off? The rears are the biggest problem, but the plastic on mine has broken such that they now swivel backwards or forwards when they collide with anything, so the problem's sort of sorted Have you got the rubber bits on the rears?

If you are'nt over fussy you could just mount them like this back and front it will save you knocking them off

terryc that looks quite cool I think! Thanks for the suggestion. ian yes I do still have the rubber mounts in there, though the left one has detached from the threaded apart (hence my use of nice strong gaffer tape, which is holding on nicely). It seems as though it's just not a particularly good piece of design, which is a shame as the rest of the bike is quite sensible.
