Here it is from another angle ! I feel sorry for the poor postie driving it I don't know the bloke as it happened in Bridport (nice ride to there it was where broadchurch was filmed) The Royal Mail will take him off driving without a doubt & he may loose his job they are always drumming it into us never to leave van on a hill without handbrake turning the wheel on full lock & also leaving in either 1st or reverse depending which way we are facing , & we have to sign a declaration confirming we totally understand the rules, & then they put us under so much pressure to do our jobs in the time allocated we sometimes take shortcuts & that's fine with them until something like this happens & then it's on our head. I've woken up to this & im one of the slowest posties in Somerset now as I like my job & would be gutted if sacked so I do follow the rules I've even stopped speeding it's something which can happen to any of us as shit happens but working for the Royal Mail they just point the finger of blame at us for everything. Even if we get attacked by a dog it can be made to be our fault, crazy but true.

Any chance you can push the claim through a bit quicker? The jet washing of the stones has cost at least a grand so far.

Ah Nick have you got one of those dogs that don't bite, I wouldn't mine a quid for every time a customer has said to me "don't be worried about my dog he doesn't bite"

Well in 29 years I've been bit around 10 times which have drawn blood 2 of those have been A&E visits the rest sorted out with plasters. But a hell of a lot of running away, they tell you not to run but stand your ground but there is a little thing in your brain that makes a snap decision & if you think you can make it to safety either van or other side of gate you run like hell Nowadays we are made to take mail back & not to take any chances with any dog.

Summer 1995 - I remember nearly being locked in a scrap yard for the entire night in Southampton. Not a nice experience......took a bite from a German Shepherd. Not an experience I want to repeat any time soon.

I applied to royal mail once, they had X amount of people they know would be turning up and only allowed enough time for less , then they were so slow that they asked a few more to go home and come back another day....looking around the room at peoples' faces and seeing how dejected some were....really glad I did not get the job, the people who do/ organise the interviews were a Bloody disgrace....and I never bothered applying again....... I will get of my soapbox now, ....many thanks for letting me vent this, about 8 years after the fact..... this is for the interviewers......lol
