i hope you lot see where i am coming from here, but you lot are your own worst enemies..
every bike i have seen and think isn't to bad a price you lot say is over priced.
its normally the people like you lot that drive up prices thinking what you have is worth more than it is..
please please dont take this the wrong way though.. if any ones got a bike for sale at the prices you keep saying is about right for a mint bike let me know... lol
Chezzy I think your post seems to be slightly contradictory the first part accuses people on the forum of under valuing bikes and then the second sentence implies that they over value their bikes, they can't be doing both. I also think it could be taken as just a wee bit offensive to the people on the forum.
The truth is most of the people on here know they would never get back financially what they have put in to the bikes they restore but then again that was never the intention for any of them. There are a number of people on here who know the Superdream inside out and you will not find anywhere else with the same amount of combined knowledge about Superdreams. A lot of bikes on Ebay are overpriced and a lot of the people on here know that because they know how much would be involved in making the thing even reasonably presentable. Most of the people on here I would also say already own a Superdream and in fact quite a few own more than they originally intended so I would say the forum has very little influence on actual bike prices on ebay, I would say the actual prices are more to do with people thinking that there are people foolish enough to pay big prices for anything remotely "classic"
I think whole bikes (Superdreams) will become harder to locate as in all honesty if it's a shabby one it is probably worth more in bits than it is whole. I bought my 1980
CB250NA 3 or 4 years ago for £250 it was a runner and mostly complete but I reckon by the time I have finished it will have cost me somewhere in the region of £2000 and in all honesty will be far from a perfect nut and bolt restoration. Would I value the bike at £2000 when finished ? Absolutely not but that is partly the reason the folks on here often say of a bike "It's overpriced" because they know from experience what it costs to restore / renovate one.
As people have already said, if you are happy with the price you paid or are willing to pay then that is all that matters, it's your money. I would say that if you plan to buy and restore a Superdream then you will find the accrued knowledge on here invaluable and also financially advantageous as it will help you avoid the costly mistakes most of us have made at one time or another.
I would like to wish you well in your search and hope you find a bike your happy with and look forward to following your restoration on the forum.
Good Luck
sorry no offence ment
