Sorry to disagree with you Paul but he does blame himself and goes into a long explanation of what happened www.youtube.com/watch?v=5FDSXKhkmlM He also says witnesses commented on the car he hit moving slowly with nothing in front of it at the time of the incident and driving off immediately after! He takes full responsibility for what happens and has lost his bike because of it, although lucky to escape any serious injury he no longer has a bike. We all make mistakes but unfortunately his was a doozy - I personally would not have put it on the net though!!

Nice to see both on the YouTube clip and on the forum link from it that he has learnt a valuable lesson and the discussion around it I bet a few others have too.
But on the original live leak link I posted and which I expressed my opinion on- the inference in his description was that it was the car drivers fault for being in the way. What if there had been a pedestrian/dog/something in the road? Maybe he has had time to think how lucky he is.
We all make mistakes. I think in both versions of the video he clearly continues to accelerate whilst being able to see absolutely nothing in front of him. Hence my title on this thread. And we all do stupid things as well.
I hope he manages to get back on a bike soon though- sounds like a nice guy!

Yes I know what you mean, it does sound as if he is accelerating but I think he starts to back off just before impact.
I too used to drive a road where in the winter the morning sun blinded you at a particular section for about 400 yards. I always slowed to walking pace whenever I came to it and one day I only narrowly avoided a pedestrian who was walking along the road, with the direction of traffic, I was so shocked and shaken I had to stop and tell her that she was walking dangerously and that she should be walking on the other side of the road, two days later the exact same thing happened - needless to say I was pre-warned but I didn't bother to stop this time. I then chose a different route!!
Luckily I now go West in the mornings and East in the evenings!!

If you can't see, you slow or stop as necessary. End of!
