I've had a quote from Bennets for my bike insurance of £186.00 and I think it's well over the top, I'm looking at going with a company called MCE who have quoted for identical cover of £86.37 fully comp, anyone had any experience with these guys good or bad?
Thanks,
Fordy

I was with MCE Fordy and found them to be a bunch of tossers but in reality what insurance company isn't. I went on a comparison site and they quoted me just over £100, I was already with them at this point and they had sent me a renewal notice which didn't have a price on it and said I should ring them to find out what my renewal would be, on a premium rate phone number which I thought was a bit of a cheek. Then when I rang them on (on an ordinary land line number) they said it would be just over £200 when I told him on the price comparison site they were quoting £100 he informed me that was because it was an online quote, I argued the bit out with them and just got more annoyed as the conversation went on so just told them to shove their policy. The truth is all insurance is, is just legalized embezzlement in my opinion, bunch of thieving b**tards.

Coincidentally just got off the phone with DirectLine steaming out of the ears. They want proof of no claims from my present insurer in writing on headed paper or the policy price doubles in a month. It's a second van policy, and guess what the other van is also with DirectLine but I have to now write to DirectLine asking for my proof of no claims (on headed paper), so I can send it to DirectLine....

Think I,ll try them for my sd's and my cb500 when my renewal comes up. Is it agreed value or do you need an expert valuation?

Hi Wazz, it's an agreed value, they ask you to send photographs of your bike and what you think it's worth, I suggested £3k and to my surprise they agreed, so I assume if the bike is a total loss they'll pay £3 grand.

I have been with Peter james for about 3 years, my renewal is normally about £85 which is lowest they do for 3 or 4 classic bikes, the only gripe I have is that if you do a mid term change of bike they charge a £20 admin fee ! last year I changed about 3 !!!

£396 this year with Carol nash was on a 6 wheeled policy for the last 3 years on bike only now, only company I could find that puts modern and classic on the same policy so they have me bye the bollacks. 10 in all and £30 to put more on or take off,I can have as many on the policy as I want but I can't go over £500,000 in value I don't think that will be a problem

This is the sort of thing that really pisses me off, I mean can the d**kheads not see this makes no sense whatsoever, but unfortunately this approach of making you jump through hoops to get something which should be quite a simple process is par for the course with insurance companies. In my opinion they take advantage of the fact insurance is a legal requirement and you have no choice but to buy it, in my opinion they are all arrogant a**holes so they know you will get the same treatment no matter which one you go to. Put it this way they must be the worst sector in the world for customer service and in all honesty if we received the same treatment from other service providers or business' we would tell them to shove their products. The thing which worries me is if they are this frustrating to deal with when you are trying to buy their products what would they be like if ever you had the misfortune of trying to make a claim. For the record I hate insurance companies

I hate Insurance companies too Harold, especialy Carole Nash they are total f**kwits to deal with due to employing people that don't know difference between a Fireblade and a fireplace I have been with Peter James for last few years as you get hassle free communication from people that know what they're doing. My problem is having a bike ( HD ) that has more than 3 modifications from a factory spec,a change of seat/handlebars/wheels/paintwork etc.count as a mod.Peter James give a good renewal quote every year and only charge £15 to add a bike and nowt to remove, waiting for my renewal now

They don't sound too bad Dave for an insurance company. If you walked into a shop to buy a jacket and then asked the sales person "How much is it" what would your response be if he said "Here phone this premium rate phone number and they will give you a price" So you try it on anyway and then ask the guy could you try another size, his reply "That will add another £10 to the price" I think he would need a few crowns replacing Yet insurance companies do this and get away with. B**tards complete and utter shower of b**tards. Oh you have got me started now
