May 1985......I was 11 years old.......pretty sure Howard Jones was in the top ten at this time as well.....I also had a collection of Hula Hoop (crisps) watches - three of them in different colours - the number of Hula Hoops I had to eat to get the watches was crazy.....(had to send in a certain amount of packets per watch) but I was a fat little basin haircut headed b*stard that loved collecting watches anyway so it was a pleasure eating those crisps. Times have moved on in many ways, for good or bad.

Do you think the traffic warden booked all three bikes in the end? Or was she just admiring the Superdream?

I tried to find out where the headline photo was taken but failed. Shopfront says "R. & J. BERESFORD" with a phone number of 671300, and street number 101A. I looked on streets in Googlemaps for Brighton and Croydon as these places were mentioned in the article.
Anybody have any ideas- look local to anybody?

I'd like to go back there for a week or so.....I bet that secondhand shop has a least a few chunky LED digital watches available.

Found it! They rode the 3 bikes down to Brighton- the CX500 came from a Brighton dealer. They took the photo outside 101A Gloucester Road, Brighton. If you imagine in the present day photo the SD front wheel parked over the drain cover still there- as are the double yellow lines!....
