......Is that a fair price to pay for a SD similar history/mileage? I don't think so- maybe 500 quid too much for my liking. Of course at 4pm on day 2 they may have taken a couple of hundred less. And I never had a good look to see if the history matched up. The exhaust, painted headlamp ears, etc. could be explained away by bad storage of course. The pillion footrests were those cheapo meccanno efforts so where are the originals? I can't see from my own bad photos if the tyres are original- that would be the best confirmation of the low mileage. Seems funny though leaving 35 year old tyres on but fitting a naff coloured front brake hose. I just never looked that closely at this one TBH. Might have been a gem. At a grand.....

I'd put me money on the 2 stroke .I like the RD's a yellow 400 would be my choice In those days whoever was madder and dafter usually won- we just raced everywhere! I think it was accepted that the RD200 was the hotter ride, but the CB200 more flexible and certainly less gearchanging. I think in the 8 months I had the CB200 I fell off it 3 times, but in between I normally got there first. After we both passed tests he traded up to an RD400- now that was a fast bike of the day....

Regarding the 250...
It certainly looks like a genuine 250NB - right down to its dream front wheel brake disc blanking plate which is correct for this model.
The registration number looks good......I always like the reg numbers with the single numeric. Rear plate also looks original. I will echo that it is a little upsetting that key parts are amiss.......typical of a bike that has suffered during storage over the years. But all in all looks nice and worth some effort.
I'd say the grand valuation (or maybe a 100 sovs less) is bang on.

Know what you mean I had a Triumph T90 350cc and my mate a CB250 in 1971 and we'd race everywhere, the Honda being a faster bike and we had some fun ,I fell off cornering on some black ice and my mate ran into me the bikes were stuck together but we were unhurt.Few years on I had a 750 Bonne and a lad on a RD 400 would often leave me for dead I couldn't keep up,happy days lol
