Lad buys bike and added it to his insurance for under £9!!! Turns out he's a member of a club that's affiliated with James fooman. Anyone else done this? Think I'm going to start looking for the cheapest club to join! Honda Owners Club charge £22 per person. Hoping for a cheap vintage club ..£10 is more like it...

I`m in the vjmc and footman james charged me £2.50 to add my cb250rsa to my policy!! that was about 4 years ago, I`ve sold it now. without the club membership they wouldn`t add it at all.

Do you mean Footman James not James Fooman Or Peter James? I use the latter and they give good discount to VMCC members only charge admin fee to add a bike and give me an unbeatable quote every year

How much is vmcc? How much is vjmc? Sounds like a plan for next years insurance.I have access to loads of bikes and yes I'd ride them all!

I was thinking about getting a quote from Peter James at my next renewal, what age is a bike eligible for classic Insurance with them?

Not sure about that Dave have an idea it's 15 years. What's cheap for one is not always cheap for another, cost isn't most important thing for me,being able to talk to someone who knows what a bike is and also give reliable service every time I ring is.Age,postcode, health, experience etc. etc. influence what you pay

Exactly Dave, I agree with you, I think I`ll talk to them in march when my renewal is due,as I`ll have another bike to add by then and possibly another before the following year`s renewal,If I get my finger out and get my tl125s restored, its next on the list after the 250n I`m doing with now.

My SD costs me 4 pounds a month now. Suzuki Bandit 600 plus SD 17 quid a month. Legal cover etc etc. I use Swinton for now anyway. My sons bike was stolen and I wasnt really hapoy with their change of attitude dealing with a ligitimate claim. Im told Wonga are the same if u have probs paying them.

Just checked and it is 15 years but they do "approved vehicle 10 to 15 year old" agreed value given on classics, don't know if James fooman can better this

The newest bike on my classic policy is a 1996 cb500, the oldest will be my 1976 tl125s when I get it restored, the others are the 1979 and 1980 superdreams so all over 15 yrs old.
I wonder if I can sneak my old dog of a gs 500 on as an "approved vehicle" it`ll be 13 yrs old next year and I approve it as a reliable old girl, priceless to me.lol

Until my wife swapped her Rebel for a Ninja, every vehicle we have was more than 15 years old - 6 bikes & a car. In 1978 I bought a 1976 CB250G5, still the youngest vehicle I have ever owned!

You can insure modern bikes on a classic policy with Peter James you only get agreed value on what they class as a classic though

The reference to breakdown cover is interesting - multi bike insurance including breakdown cover anyone? I looked into breakdown cover before we went away on the bikes this summer, but they seemed to be per bike & we were having a couple of trips on the CB500/Virago & one on the Rebel/SD - 4 bikes, so 4 charges, so I didn't bother. What I want is cover for the rider so we can take any of our bikes. Breakdown cover included in a multi bike insurance policy would be one answer.
