This has to be one of the worst modern inventions, the magnetic L plate. I taught my daughter to drive last year (nightmare but that's another story) we brought a set of these as handy to just whip them on & off so car could be used for normal use & teaching her to drive. trouble is they fly off both the front & back in certain conditions especially when raining, I'm a rural postman & I do a lot of miles on all types of roads & they are lying around all over the place, I'm thinking about picking them all up & selling them on eBay bit like when I was a kid picking up corona bottles & getting 2p down the off licence. they should be banned or made to actually work by making them more magnetic :/

They are pretty terrible to be fair......I used them a few times during my time as a driving instructor and as you say.....one gust of wind or if the speed gets up to around 70 on a dual carriageway......and they are gone..........WHOOOSSSSHHHH......

If you put them on a dirty car and slide them off, they scratch the paintwork. You have to hold a finger on one corner and peel the opposite corner towards you carefully. Or better still, just wash the vehicle! Mike

They should come with velcro, stick velcro strips to the car and attach L plate, when you pass your test remove stick on velcro strips from the car

Totally meaningless out on the road anyway. They just indicate that at some time- probably not now- that vehicle has had a learner driver in it....
