Hi all. I want to learn how to repair the rectifier/cdi unit etc so bring you "daughter to the slaughter"... First thing i have to work out is how to remove the epoxy resin, holding all the gubbins. Friend of mine used to know.He did tell and I forgot .. Unfortunately he's thrashing around in a better place these days... Something like soak it it a paste and it just scraps out? Ring any bells? The rectifier is the easy one, the guts can be dug out and scraped.. The cdi would be trickier, till I get my hands on a circuit diagram. But i believe the zx7r would work for the superdream as its at the same level of complexity input and output wise. Would be nice to dismantle the cdi to restore the case. Or even replace it with a plastic case.

Guess that's a no!.. It's a "in the future thing", as I do understand that when stuff breaks you cruse it and throw it in the bin for its troubles.

I think its a great idea. I was taught by our lovely government to remove the epoxy with a soldering iron, and a ventilated (outside) area. Just about everything mil spec is in epoxy. Its a pain, but be patient.

So much for being patient. Im having troubles with mine so cracked it open. Used a heat gun, and a small screw driver to break up the epoxy. It does not help that honda used sand in the epoxy to make it "go further". All the best with yours.
