Key blank, type 2 A Genuine key blank to have your original replicated. Please note there are 2 types, this type 2 is for key numbers starting with either the letter C or D. In cases when your key number does not start with letters A, B, C or D, carefully compare your original to the 2 types, the cut in the face of the key blade is either on the Left or Right hand side. Make your selection from either type 1 or type 2. Not strictly NOS as I think the keys probably had more part number updates than anything else- but good to get one with "Honda" on. Originals were like the photo of the lockset Nick put up the other day inviting comments. That's why it was such a good find- 2 original design keys.
I thought SD keys were the "Type 1", or at least all the ones I have here are that handed?

Unfortunately, "locks only keep the honest people out" I was taught when i was a kid. But then i was also taught to "treat other peoples property as you would your own". Any competent locksmith will be able to make the 3 barrels the same, or cut a blank to suit the supplied barrels, or match 3 barrels for a given key. Have a search on lock picking on the net. You might be able to do it yourself. The stainless steel rod in a set of old wind screen wipers work well.

Well remembered Dave!
Yes done a few re-keys now, it's worth dismantling and keeping those brass tumblers/blades from knackered locks as there is only 8-9 different lengths and you can mix 'n match to get a usable combination....

You don`t need a key to get the barrel out Chris, if you look at the pic of the back of the barrel you`ll see a tab on the opposite side of the barrel to where the raised pin is. you need a small screwdriver or something with a narrow point to prise the tab towards the barrel, it pushes in flush with the barrel when you have pushed it in flush, press down on the back of the barrel and it should push out, you might need to oil it up a bit or spray it with wd40 if it hasn`t been used for a long time. you can see the tab I mean on this pic, its the one nearest the back of the barrel. I hope you can see from the pics what I mean but if you need any help just give me a shout

I haven`t reassembled it yet , I fitted a nos one, But I intend to sometime before next spring as the new one I got from cms has a smaller barrel and a crappy small steel key so I couldn`t match its barrel with my original keys.

They can't be that hard as I have re-assembled two now.....the last one from SBY back in May - took it apart to replace the rusted locking bar for a nice shiny looking one.
