I am very aware that I have not been very 'active' on here lately, but I do have a genuine reason........ A number of years ago (around 4, nearly 5 I think) I decided I wanted to build an r/c boat. Not just any boat, but a particular boat that I travelled upon on my first holiday to Europe in 1973. Now.....an r/c model of this boat doesn't exist, so if I wanted one I would have to design and build it myself..... Once I had started down this road, and word got around various model boat forums, a few others liked what was happening and intimated that they would like one too!!! Consequently, it was decided that I would design the model as a kit that could be marketed. Initially, it was all design work....which then led on to forming a plug that a mould could be taken from to produce the fibreglass hulls: This was some 2 1/2 years since starting!! Since the successful production of a couple of hulls, we have been designing parts and adding them to the model to eventually form something that looks like the real thing: And then, in the last 3 months or so, we have been adding the fine details and paint whilst attending shows and getting the model known in the wider world: Now we come up to date and this evening I took our 90% finished model to be exhibited at the International Model Boat show this weekend at the Warwick Exhibition Centre: Hand in hand with getting the model ready for the show, Flo and I have created a Company (Linkspan Models Ltd) to market this, and future, kits and this has also taken up a considerable amount of our time. Fingers crossed that this whole venture works out..... I have ideas for about 15 different models and am part way through constructing our second kit and am designing the third and fourth. If I could figure out a way of designing an r/c Superdream - that DIDNT need stabilsers - then I could be onto a winner!!!!! Maybe a Sidewinder sidecar might be the answer.......hmmmmm............

Good work GB - must run with a lot of ballast considering all the top works ? - always thought the full size ones looked top heavy . Been looking at r/c bikes myself lately , cheaper to crash and warmer , apparently they manage quite well without stabilisers ....... sorry more work ! www.youtube.com/watch?v=p2hpuWomyOQThink that one runs a gyro but not all do .

That's a grand job Carl, very impressive work. What is the process of designing models like this from scratch. Do you work from the original drawings for the ship and then scale down. If you make the Superdream Model on a 1:1 scale complete with working engine I think you may have a few sales on here Good Luck in your new venture Carl and I hope it is very successful for you both.
