Got this border-less example recently......chucked it across the garage floor, stood on it then applied black wax to it and an ickle bit of black satin aersol and voila.... A nice 'aged' looking spare......of course holes need to be drilled but all in good time.

I think that borderless type is as close as we are going to get Nick. But it's a bit smaller than they did them back then- not least because they put the dealer details on the bottom. Obtained the original plate for one of mine. Revetts were still on the go until the early noughties I believe. Torn what to do as it really is a bit too battered to go with the rest of the bike....

Thanks Nick This is the original number plate on the red one, the numbers are stuck on not pressed, the whole thing is quite big. Unfortunately the dealer address is a bit faded.

I remember this style of bike number plate......very common in the mid-eighties to early nineties. The digits are made up of black tape.

Yours is the original perspex jobbie from memory Fordy - proper thick and sharp cornered. You could preserve that and get one of these alloy ones if you wanted...
Personally I have to age them slightly.... (as you saw).
p.s - How's your bike running now? All good again?

Yes I've spoken to Gordy on the phone and hoping his re-wound generator and replacement CDI will put his right, fingers crossed.

Hi Andy, seems you've covered all angles for your problems, you'll be back on the road soon I've no doubt about it. Have you given up the Rex's cdi as a bad job then? I haven't got my repaired stator and cdi back from Rex's yet, hopefully this week, I'll keep the you all updated.
