Once upon a time far far away on rough seas a wooden ship was engulfed in a huge storm which smashed it against the rocks and ship wrecked it. Of all the passengers and crew on the ship only three crew members survived by strong swimming, perserverence and clinging to floating debris. The three made it to a rocky island by following the distant light from a light house on the small island. All three got there seperately each thinking that they had been the only survivor. After collapsing on the island and sleeping a few hours from exhaustion, the first sailor made his way to the lighthouse and started knocking on the door. The lighthouse keeper who was in bed was very surprised to hear a knoc on his door and he made his way down the 200 steps one by one carefully in the dark, he was so anxious to discover who it was that he ran down in the dark to get there before they might leave again. He asked who was there, opened the door and took pity on the old exhausted ship wrecked sailor and helped him up the 200 steps in the dark and brought him into a small kitchen, made him tea and rum and asked him what he would like to eat ? The sailor looked around and asked could he have some Weetabix, the lighthouse keeper made up a large bowl of Weetabix with warm milk, after which the sailor ate it he then went to sleep and slept heavily. The Lighthouse keeper went back to bed and had just fallen asleep when he heard another knock on the door below so he got up again put on his clothes and made his way down the old stone stairs again but this time he brought a lit wax candle for small light, he opened the door to discover another worn out middle aged half dead sailor there. He took pity on him and invited him in but a gust of wind blew out the candle and he had forgot to bring the matches with him so they both had to make their way up the 200 stone steps in the dark. When the got to the kitchen the old light house keeper then made tea and poured him rum and asked him what he would like to eat, the sailor looked around and said he would like a bowl of Weetabix with warm milk, after which the sailor ate it and went to bed and slept heavily.
The Lighthouse keeper went back to bed and had just fallen asleep again when he was woken again by another knock on the door below.
The Lighthouse keeper was starting to get annoyed know and wished they would all call together at the same time because his legs and hips were starting to ache from walking up and down the old stone stairs, but he felt duty bound to help anyone who might knock on his door, especially with the storm still raging and torrental rain hammering the island outside. This time he decided to light a parifan brass/glass lamp which would not blow out with the storm so that he would have light both walking down and back up the 200 step stairs. When he got to the bottom of the stairs he enquired who was there and opened the door to find a young sailor who was about to collapse with exhaustion. The lighthouse keeper helped him up the stairs with the aid of the storm lamp which had not blown out because the flame was shielded with the glass globe from the storm winds. When they got to the kitchen the old light house keeper then made tea and poured him rum and asked him what he would like to eat, the sailor looked around and said he would like a bowl of Kellogs cornflakes with warm milk, after which the sailor ate it and went to bed and slept heavily. Old sailors tend to prefer Weetabix and young sailors lean more towards Kellogs Cornflakes, that statistical fact has been proven in this great factual true story above. And they all lived happily ever after.
