A warning to anyone thinking of going for a blast round the wolds, the police are now using a green john Deere tractor with a speed camera and a copper in it ,around the sledmere area.
They also have a white horse box. With the top half of the back doors open with a camera in it, that has been seen on the road between driffield and staxton hill, near octon roundabout.
The sneaky b*ggers, what will they come up with next.

I can appreciate we need safer roads but sneaking about like that stinks, no wonder the fuzz are looked upon as money grabbing bar stewards , so to speak

The local radio station has been on about it for the last two days, from the calls received I think the general opinion is its a sneaky trick.
I know some bikers are crazy, and deserve a ticket, but there are plenty of coppers about on the wolds especially on Wednesdays and also weekends. The have an unmarked bike with an onboard camera and another marked bike that sets up his portable camera all over the area. I bet they won't be averse to nicking the sensible riders that happen to drift a few mph over the limit either.

I wonder if they actually own the tractor or are they leasing, hiring it. Whatever way it is financed local people should be asking is it a justifiable expense given that all the forces are complaining about the lack of funds and reducing the number of policemen on the beat. I suppose it's easier to hide in hedges than it is to go out and tackle real criminals.

It's being asked Harold, been debated on local radio and the police commissioner was on a phone in and was grilled about it but was very reticent to give a straight answer;)

I drove these things years ago, (well similar stuff, Massey Fergusson's, Deuts Fahr and Case-John Brown), I got to tell yous there is no acceleration in these things, even worse if here is a slurry tanker yoked behind it, way to much metal, but very good low in torque. No a hope of catching up with even a 125cc, small number plate smattered with muck, that what speed freaks her use.

No scania but the police motorbikes can catch them, and that's what they do , radio up to the bikes or the traffic cars and they pull you.

The truth is they don't need to catch you if there's a camera on it which I would imagine there is due to the tripod mounting. You will just get a nice wee photo of yourself, a fine and some points in the post. I think this level of sneakiness in pursuing road users is getting ridiculous and just shows to me it's all about raising revenue and then obviously spending it on f**king tractors.

They say it to target the head cases that fly around here at ridiculous speeds , bikes and cars, alike, its such crazy s*d's that spoil it for the sensible riders.
