The Cbr 650f I brought in March has a recall notification & im a bit annoyed with Honda They sent me a letter advising me there is a possible problem with the starter relay switch & to cut a long story short it can melt & stop engine or in worse case a fire they advised me me to ring my dealership (bridge Honda Exeter) I rang them today & they wanted me to book it in so they could have a look to see if my bike is affected, before I made a booking service man informed me that they would only be looking at it to see if there was a problem & if it is affected then I would have to bring the bike back at a later date to have the upgrade. Not at all happy about this even though the bike shop is only 40 miles away its a awful ride & they need the bike for up to 4 hours & to top it all I would have to do this twice if mine is faulty. i think they are taking piss a bit why don't they (Honda) give the dealerships the upgrades to fit to the faulty bikes as they come in to be checked, seems mad to me I explained this to the service guy & he understood my frustration but nothing he can do, I've not booked it in yet as I'm thinking of my next move. what do members on here think ? should I just do what they say.

What a pain in the backside mate. What would you think a better more acceptable solution?
If you can think of one, argue for it.

Suppose there is not much option but four hours to inspect it ?? - could they "inspect" and sort if it went in early in the day ? Does seem poor PR considering it's a Honda problem .

I don't mind taking bike to Exeter at all as I want it done but cannot work out why they want to take it apart to inspect, put it back together wether it's got a fault or not & then have it back again to take apart if fault is found, seems crazy waste of time for me and them, I'm thinking of waiting until it's first service in March as it runs fine I will just check with dealership that this won't affect my warranty. It's a awful ride to Exeter bike shop & 4 hours waiting around but having to do it twice seems unfair, I think Honda don't want to produce the fix in bulk so they are trying to find out how many are faulty before making the replacement unit, money before customer service I suppose

Yes thanks Andy I'm hoping it's all ok I'm still going to ride it though although with autumn here it's not going to do many miles before service .

It doesn't really make sense Dicky but then common sense doesn't come into a lot of things nowadays, as you say it would be more sensible to have the replacement part there in case it is needed. Ask the dealership to collect the bike as it is a recall and safety related.

Maybe your bike was subcontracted out by Honda to be build by VolksWagen !
