250 with spoked wheels so guessing it is not a UK version.

Sorry to hear about the fall, hope you are ok. How exactly did it happen? I'm not really sure scania, it was early morning and dark, I'd just left home and was riding down the street as I approached the junction , braked and lost the front end. Had a look when I came home tonight and there was some loose grit and mess on the road, I didn't spot it as a car is as coming the other way and I was keeping an eye on it.

Possible diesel spilt on the road? Or road greasy after being dry for some time?

I got the bike sorted last night, will have to look out for a left hand engine case ,its a bit scuffed up but it'll do for now as its no showpiece, just my everyday workhorse. I'm now dosed up with painkillers and back out on her to work this morning. ;D

It doesn't take a lot Dave, I was going down a concrete ramp to go onto a ferry and just touched the front brake very lightly and just as I done that the front wheel hit a very small stone which was enough to make the front end slide out from under me. Good to hear your back on the bike again and there's a fella on here just bought a tatty GS500E he might swap engine covers with you

I could take the cover to wales with me and swap him , it would give his bike a bit of character. lol

Sadly its put the missus off riding pillion, but I think she'll get over it eventually. When I had my first Superdream back in 1981 coming back from the Rotherham bike club late at night late November freezing cold ,I pulled up at a junction where unseen by me in the dark a gritting wagon had left a small heap of grit behind .As I set off the back wheel just went in the grit and the bike went over ,I was travelling about 5 mph so I just stepped of the bike and walked up the grass banking on turning I found my three month pregnant girlfriend laid on the road under the bike She had saved everything except for a couple of grazes on front and back indicators I picked the bike up and helped her up we got back on the bike and went home where we checked her out .Her leg was bruised from her groin to her ankle about 4inches wide all the way down it was some gorgeous colours and very painfull .The point I.m making here is she forgave me and got back on the pillion (OK it was two bikes later and it had a sidecar ) but she did get back on, we had two kids by then though .So dont dispair Dave she'll come round eventually

Aye I'm sure she will tel, she has always been a reluctant pillion , she doesn't share my love of biking so it doesn't take much to put her off.

mine might be when I get round to painting them, they really need doing, they look bad now, three winters of salt has taken its toll on them.

What I love about these bikes is that you can near enough get them back to factory in the garage (frame etc) and the parts are at that ultra cheap stage......I like that in a steed.
Been offered another. 1993/K reg vintage......red 'un with 14k for 600 notes. 2nd lady owner for 14 years.. looks in great nick....will show a pic.

mine needs a replacement monoshock for the mot ,its lost the damping, but buying a second hand one from ebay is a waste of time unless your very lucky.
new hagon is £300. you can get a yam r6 one to fit and they transform the rear end, but only the 2007 model one fits. there is more choice of years with an r1 shock, but again your buying second hand and unless you know that it was taken of when relatively new you could be wasting your money
