I'm strangely attracted to these 500's.......I think I want one....would have to be this tri colour version though. Dropped by the local Honda dealer after work and sat on one and now I'm even more keen. £1000 odd quid deposit and around £80 odd quid a month over three years with a two grand balloon at the end (or give it them back).......hmm.....    |

The front half looks fairly good, bulky looking a bit of character to it, lights are nice like an old Yamaha Fazer and the colour scheme is good, and it is a twin but that is as about as much as I like it. I thank the back half spoils it, way too spiky looking like a broken plastic toy.
I think the engine is water cooled, I hate water around metal, I always think of the rust one finds when one takes off the head. Water is fine in a car or bike which one is not emotionally attached to as I don't mind it slowly rusting inside but not in a bike that is my pride and joy, water and metal is cancer to an engine in my simple mind.
Honestly I wouldn't buy this unless it was for give away price.
I would keep any oil cooled bike like the Bandit or even an oil cooled Kawasaki before it, you can't beat an air cooled twin for simplicity and reliability.
I know Honda were top in quality in 1980s,1990s and up to 2010, I am not sure if that holds true any more, has anyone got any views on recent Honda quality?
My advice Fungo is would be don't buy it, and have to invest heaps of time learning another bike, buy another SD, stay with what you know is good and use you knowledge and experience on it.

I got the cbr650f Nick it was built in Thailand got it new in March I've done 2500 miles on it and very pleased in every way and also in those colours (tricolour) fantastic bike in my view no regrets  |

Built in Thailand though..... Good thing or bad thing??? They do look good and I was sort of considering the CB500X , but they are not the same quality as the Superdreams and TBH no bikes are now . Built to be competitively priced , single front disc , Thai built etc but still a Honda , the staged payment thing makes it seem less of an "investment" but I rarely keep a bike three years .....  |

Could the tail cowl be modified to look a bit more classic, or practical, I just couldn't be looking at that.

Just as a matter of interest Norton willbe bringing out two new models next year one is a 1200 v4 and the other is a 650 twin both bikes will have Norton designed and built engines  This is the v4 |

Just look on it as a future classic Just a wee tip for you I think there may be dealers who are closer to you than Chattanooga although I'm sure Loz would drive you over there in the van to pick it up |

One thing I don't like about modern bikes is that the rider is forced to sit in the exact same position all the time. The traditional long flat seat lets you move every now and then and change the angle of your knee, better for circulation and comforted and stops one getting board or cramps, does anyone else find this.

Scania, the riding position on this I thought was actually quite comfy.
This bike is deceiving -sporty looks but as comfortable as sitting on a Bandit.
