Just curious, we don't have MOTs for motorcycles in Ireland, not yet anyway, Possibly will have in 2021 for all bikes over 125cc. What do the look for, is it difficult or easy to get a SD to pass? How much does the test cost first time, and for a retest?

My test was 20 quid as I hand out business cards for the garage I use at bike meetings etc. Not sure how much a test is for bikes.

£25 for me, but normally that's 2 at a time and if he's on his own I wind the winch and shout out the readings for the brake test!

How much does the test cost first time, and for a retest? We do have MOTs in Northern Ireland and they are done at government MOT centres, I haven't put a bike through recently so can't say how meticulous they are. When you take a car through I always feel like I'm sitting outside the head masters office awaiting his verdict. Basically you drive it in turn all the lights, then get in the passenger seat while they do the brake test on the rolling road and then get out and take a seat at the side of the test centre while they put it on a ramp and shake the shit out of it. Most of the testers are not very sociable and refuse to be drawn into a conversation.

VOSA run, and all done behind closed shutters, whilst the person submitting the car for test has to sit in what can only be described as a dentists waiting room (without the magazines). I unknowingly bought a CAT-C car a few years back, and had to go through that pain... Got my money back in the end from the shady seller though!
