I thought we live in the dark ages up north,no modern motorcycles down your way fungodat. The youth of today have got different tastes to us as I did when I was his age.the bikes of today are unbelievably good, I do not know how I servived the 70s and 80s they were crap no brakes no suspension no ground clearance and a hing in the middle of the frame and tyres that were jokes.tyres of that hera must have contributed more to bike sales. If the choice was the 750ftb or the lads bike to go to the oak bike night tomorrow it would be the kawa .I wished the bike's were as good in my day as they are now

Those bikes were built in the golden age mate......that's the difference......that Kwak looks a nice bike and is of course capable of anything but I think it could be naive to think it will ever be remembered.

your absolutely right fungo less and less young riders bike sales dropping every year. but this bike his my sons main means of transport and that all he sees it as.big question what is a classic bike does history make it a classic like the honda cub the bike for the masses the rd250lc the hooligan bike the two wheeled xr3 of the 80s. even modern bikes are getting classic status early fireblades and r1s.so what is a classic bike

I just wish more youngsters were able to get a bike licence easily, thus bike sales increase again, more memories are made and bikes become sought after by more than just a small bunch of people when they (the bikes) do get to around 30 years old.
Your lad will always have fond memories of this particular bike........but I fear he is in the minority....he is one of the lucky ones. In the golden times, nearly every 16/17 year old wanted (and could have) a bike.
