Last time I put up one of his vids- a few thought he was an idiot giving bad advice.
But he makes it ridiculous enough to show he's actually a clever guy. The bit of wood and tape screwdriver, rattly mole grips and utility knife scissors I think are superb editing. The real interest is that he seems to have in his "workshop" very familiar bikes to me- obviously the Hawk/Dream/CM in this vid, but previous episodes I have seen other bikes I own....

The Bosh system he fitted, although new, looked like an old mechanical 'make & break' points system to me, am I correct in saying that the magnet in the flywheel causes it to open and close, and this is used to break the primary circuit of the coil, thus creating the spark in the secondary circuit of the coil. In other words it's 1940s technology ?

Take nothing technical at all from the video Scania- it's a wind up from start to finish. He just stuck a set of points on with blu-tack after photographing an empty box I think.....

Did like the "tools" but also the "heat gently" and next time you see the CDI it's a mass of flames ! Did inspire me though , next time I get a stator failure I'll weld a blob onto the "F" mark on the rotor and fit points - job done

Yes, I think you have summed it up pretty well. Whatever that guy is on, I would like some!! The world might seem a simpler place. Why anyone would create a you-tube video of such rubbish is beyond me. Then again I do have to admit to watching it. All the best. Mike.

Well he fooled me hook, line and sinker, though it was a bit dubious when he set fire to the box. My first car was mark one Fiesta with mechanical points, the centre shaft which opened and closes the points was worn and rocked around, it was impossible to set he gap correctly, I done the reverse, build an electronic ignition from an article in an electronics magazine, it worked 100%. The only function of the points then was to trigger a transistor, so there was very little current going through the points and the gap did not need to stay consistent.
