bike passed MOT this morning so took it out for a short run. Parked her in the garage and went out for the rest of the day. Just home and have now discovered that there is an oil leak coming from the Tach drive cable. How easy is it to change the seal and do I have to remove the casing to do it? Bike is a CB400t

No, casing doesn't need removed, but I'd remove it anyway. Don't want any bits of old o ring lurking around in the sump. Not a big job. Good excuse to check your camchain..

Agreed.
Not familiar with CB400T but if it's the same as the SD it can be hooked out and replaced.
