I would be keeping a spare collector box rather than treating it as "surplus"? One of those essential spares that will get ever harder to source. If you look into the silencer ends- do you see solid or perforated internal tubing?
My SD has a pattern H collector box with small whole probably not worth repairing
The price of them on E-Bay is stupid
Have found the following pattern one on the web
classicbritishmotorcycles.com/honda-cb250_cb400-exhaust-collector-box.html
Has anyone fitted one of these or has a view
Thanks
Peter

"Page not found"
If these were the ones I think they were then they are now obsolete - hence the 'stupid' ebay prices for used items.

Thanks, looks like they have taken the collector box of web site today as it was on there yesterday
Don't need a complete system the down pipes and silencers I have are genuine Hondas in great condition
Back to ebay or a spot of welding I think

That's interesting Boje, I would like to see one of those systems, and yes, keep the collector box as spare.

Can't beat the proper Honda "Power Chamber"- I have read the brochures!
Oh, and the Bike mag where they said it had already gone rusty by the time they got their hands on the test bike......

There must be a profit in making new ones - I am going to Stafford show in 2 weeks - going to have a chat with David Silver Spares as they would normally have kit remanufactured
Anyone any idea of a similar box that can be modified to fit - minor changes only tacking on mounting plates?

These collectors can take up a different structure within them though so it is just something to be mindful of. I have had versions that have been totally hollow inside (only ever seen one), some have the inners but no holes but the most common version has the holes. All having the same external appearance (excluding the flat pattern C&C 'H' section version).

Thanks for that picture, .
I have not been on here much lately, been waiting for some bits, which have now arrived , so I can start putting it back together..
So its 2 tubes that are diverted from main through tube on each side and they face each other , but only cross by half a pipe, fill up the box with pressure and soften the noise...all encased by the outer shell....simples.....make one in stainless...theres a plan for the future, I think
