Can't the duff stuff be repaired? I would be such a collector..as most just chuck this stuff in the bin when they find it faulty.. I'm currently working on older stuff and trying to convince my mate to get a coil winder.. making looms etc at the minute as most 1930's stuff did not have 12v lights...working my way to the superdreams as I can't start them untill I have generated the space lol Do you mean parts like CDI's, generators and the such? Yes anything can be repaired if enough time, money and skill is thrown at it.
But first it's the diagnostics that defeat a lot of people, especially if not technically minded. Even in industry swapping in known good components is a quick and cost effective way of finding the problem. In fact I worked for many years in production line maintenance where even if a part swapped in did not fix the problem, you did not then take it back off- you just moved on to the next likely failure point. The down time cost more than any part.
So we keep hearing of people replacing plugs, coils, CDI's, etc. and then its really the generator. And vice versa. So the swapping in good tested parts is better in my view. And then after you know what bit is duff? Currently still quicker and cheaper to source a good S/H replacement from a range of bikes that numbered tens of thouands- but this will change no doubt as the sources dry up.....
Would be good to have a set of know to be working.. Then you could swop the lot out in exchange for your old stuff.

Was looking to get an exchange stator for my 250 but cannot see them or prices listed on your site ? It has open circuit between the white and blue wires .

To be honest we've held back on the CB250s. The feedback we get is that no one wants to pay for a fully overhauled stator for this model. The problem is that these items are now at an age where the insulation is highly likely to be degraded. This means if you want the repair to be reliable, the only option is a full strip and rewind. There are companies out there who will "patch them up" without replacing the base insulation. I won't do this as I don't want the warranty issues this causes. Occasionally we find a much later stator that may have been supplied as a spare part and these are suitable for a partial repair but early stators are, by and large not suitable for a part repair - if you want the repair to be reliable. If you want yours overhauled we can do it but we decided not to hold lots of ready repaired stators on the shelf. I do have a box full of low speed source coils if needed as well. We can have a look and see what repair will be suitable for your stator if you send it in

OK , thanks for that , TBH I was suprised that anyone could "refurb" a stator for the £60-70 you see quoted by some suppliers - that explains exactly why , they fix only the winding that has failed .
