Ok I currently travel around 58 miles round trip everyday to work on my trusty cub 90. Future plans is to start using the superdream 250 so I would like to know a rough idea what people are getting to the gallon and also how reliable these machines are? Thanks Mark

Mark,
You are going to be using the Superdream you were going to sell last week as a commuter? Is this correct?

The superdream in general is a very reliable motorcycle , regular oil & filter changes and routine servicing should keep it in good condition ,tyre wear, chain & sprocket replacement is minimal and somewhere around 50 - 55mpg I reckon is about right ....

I used a c90 for going to work for a few years, grand little bike. When it was past it I got a gs500 suzuki , got to work twice as fast but costs twice as much .lol

Wondered if you were considering commuting on it all year round, by this thread it does sound like it. There are much lesser bikes that would do a better job at commuting if this makes sense? Preserve the SD.......use it on fine days of course - just my opinion.

My wife gets 90-95 mpg out of her 250 Rebel, although I get about 10mpg less. Still pretty impressive though; I've used 3 125s for my winter commute over the last 5 years, an SR125, a Honda Dylan & a 125 Rebel & all fell short at around 70-75mpg. I get 55-60 out of my 250NB.

my SD probably does 50-55mph. As has been said not much will even come close to a C90's MPG - my 500 Matchless will do 80mph though!
As for reliability of a Superdream. Mine has done over 25,000 miles over the last 4 years with only one breakdown (at home) from a failed generator. regular oil changers are all thats needed.

I'm doing 210 /240 miles per week to work so in the summer its bike time... I used my sym xs125 and got 105MPG bike paid for its self in just under two years... Would like a 150cc/200cc bike, but due to price etc got a cbf250 which does 80 to 65 mpg depending on how you ride it. CB250n is of the status of sunday toy only. Why, due to the age. Plus commuting to work is not the best, I find the road round here hammer bikes, and the fact that you will get knocked off, because poeple just don't pay attention. So if your bike is a hack and you don't mind the odd scrap or ding, then job done. Then you have to park it somewhere. parkings not an issue at the minute but if you work in a city centre etc then could be. I hate leaving bikes parked up anywhere, like to know they are dry and safely out of view.

Picking up on something SRX mentioned there and it's why I've got hold of a GS500 to park up and not be so concerned about. Still nickable of course but the SD was built in times when security on bikes was very weak. I recall someone having a conversation with someone else (think it was Wazzbo) recently at a meet who said he could nick a Superdream within minutes......that coupled with the fact people know they are worth quite a bit in spares these days is enough to not park one up on a regular basis, enabling it to be targeted.
