I've managed to pick up a set of handlebars with a four inch rise just for comfort but am having a bit of a problem sorting out longer clutch and throttle cables for them. I rand David Silvers who said that the cables for the Hawk might be my best bet, if I could find them as the throttle cables are marked as discontinued and the clutch cable is a special order. Before I start ordering can anyone tell me what the overall length of the Hawk clutch and throttle cables might be please just to be on the safe side?.

I believe we have a limited few members running higher bars.....off the top of my head, GrahamB and is one of them.....so he may be your best bet for info.
As a back up, I will skip across the pond (ebay) to see if I can find the measurement of the hawk cables.

Just after 5 mins of research, I am getting this length back (via an ebay listing) for a hawk's clutch cable:

Thanks Fungobat, 5 minutes eh?. I spent hours searching and contacting suppliers in the States who all referred me to the manufacturers for lengths and you hit gold immediately, and they talk about the luck of the Irish..!!!.
Seriously though many thanks for that, I will check against the length of the Euro cable and see just how much of a difference there is. I'm fairly confident that if the clutch cable is longer then the throttle cables should be too.

Again, thanks for that. I just pulled the clutch cable off to measure it (40" overall and 35.5 outer) and boy was it a good thing I did..!!. The inner is almost completely seized taking a lot of effort to pull through. I had noticed that the clutch felt a little heavy but not having ridden a SD in a long time put it down to a characteristic of the model. So having already experienced a broken push throttle cable I suspect that all will need replacing.

These people do kits for clutch & throttle cables. I got a clutch kit for my 250NB to make sure the length was right. Decent quality & easy enough to fit, but they custom make them if you don't want to do it yourself. www.venhill.co.uk/

Thanks Ian, while I have heard of Venhill I did not realise that they sold components. I've ordered a set from the States so we'll see how that goes,

Something else to perhaps be aware of.... One of my old Superdreams had high bars on it when I got her. Someone had also extended the swtchgear wiring. So it may depend on the style / height of your bars as to what you can get away with. Also, the front brake master cylinder had a longer (than standard) hose down to the splitter. We joked about it at the time (second pic below) but it was a pretty untidy job to be fair.....when the tape was unravelled, of course there was not a 13a plug but a lot of untidy blue bullet connectors making up a big fat lump within the loom. Soldering would have been a much tidier job. I'm unsure if your bars will require the switchgears to be modified.....just something to bare in mind.

That's interesting Fungobat, although I think that the plug adds a touch of class. . I have the brake line covered as I picked up a longer length at a scrap yard. The wiring however may indeed need some work because it is tight with the slightly raised bars (1.5") that I fitted.
