I have just had my front mudguard re chromed by AG Briggs how have done a great job so what I would like to know is how to protect it from rusting again. Can anyone recommend a coating to put on the underside of it please?

Any rust proofing smooth metal paint will do the job.

How much did they charge for the re-chroming if you don't mind me asking and did you have to take the bracket off?
Thanks.

Thanks, what sort of condition was it in and did you prep it yourself?

Wouldn't mind seeing some before and after pics.
I don't think it will ever rust again John, only if you are planning on using the bike in all seasons - but of course it is good to protect it. I've used Hammerite smooth Silver in the past......that stuff that Scott uses also looks good.

Your rusty mudguard lasted 30 odd years, don't worry too much about it for the next 30 years.

It's salt and grit from winter roads that will attack the chrome,I'd use ACF50 on underside an easier cheaper option,Hammerite is not as good as most people think it doesn't stop rust

I put good old fashioned waxoyl on the underside, it will look messy but it is very good rust protection!
