Hi all
Sorry for the long absence. The sd has sat up for a while. But it is due to be brought back to life.
Having the third puncture on my cg125 I think it is time to be looking at getting the sd back up.
I couldn't touch the floor on it (but worked out that a seat that sat directly on the frame i could reach the ground).
So obv airbox has to go. Cv slides i know are rubbish on pod filters so my quest is to find some that can be tuned to run sweetly.
Mikuni carbs i thought may be the best way, but someone suggested looking at chinese copies or pit bike carbs. I have no idea how to go about investigating which may fit.
Anyone done anything similar? Thanks

I'd think it'd be easier to get the CV carbs to work with pod filters than sort the linkage/jetting/cables etc to use pit bike carbs ? Not done it myself but seem to be a few bikes fitted with the pod filters about now , looks like spacing the filters back from the carb rather than mounting direct is the way to go - something to do with turbulence ?

Hi jsduck, welcome back. Would it not be easier to modify the seat? I've lowered a couple of bike for my wife by removing the cover, cutting down the foam a bit & trimming the sides, then refitting the cover. These were modern bikes, so the base was plastic & the cover stapled on, which made it easier, but I'm sure something could be done with a Superdream seat. I also cut down the rubbers under the seat, which it sits on. Again, easier on a modern hinged seat.

Plenty of scope to reduce the height of a SD seat I would think (as ian says). Later seats had quite a scallop towards the front anyway- must have been lower than the early ones? Without getting too personal on the female form- its quite often the width of the seat that has the greatest limitation on getting feet on the ground- consider getting a narrower seat made up....

Hi I re did the base and just had that on without foam but it's still quite high for me. But sitting on the frame is perfect height. So was thinking of something that could work like that. I didnt think i could modify it to sit lower as i thought that it needed that space in between seat and airbox for air flow. Which was why i was thinking of removing airbox. Am i wrong?
