Hi
after a week of stripping carbs and lots of head scratching a new set of plugs this morning saw the bike burst into life. I was so shocked I nearly............... I'm so used to it just turning over.
anyway I have small issue which I was hoping someone could help with.
when the ignition is turned on the neutral light acts and performs normally. However when the engine started it doesn't matter what gear it is in the neutral light stays on. All other things work normally..... Lights, indicators (didn't try the horn) but all seems well. Stop the bike and it acts properly again.
anyone know what the issue could be?
Cheers

Hi Cheers for the quick reply. I did wonder if it was shorting out on something which became live when the engine ran? But then I know nothing about electrics!
Would that explain the engine running v not running bit?
Is it easily accessible/changeable?
Any help gratefully accepted.

I'd try disconnecting the connection to the neutral switch , insulate the wire then try it , if the lamp still lights, its a wiring issue .
With the wire disconnected from the switch check the continuity of the switch if you have a meter too.
The switch is on the top of the crankcase on the RH side under a rubber boot .

Cheers I'll have a look at connections and stuff .......No idea about the continuity stuff .... Although I do have a multi meter....... ... Which just confuses me!

Just a thought. Would all that still apply with or without the engine running?

With the wire removed from the switch you'd expect (hope !) the light would be off with engine running or not Probably a failed switch but an odd fault .
