Steve to be fair, I can take this or leave it.
I take Scott's point about it making the pages look a bit too busy and my concern is that it could slow some people's data down or clog the screen up unnecessarily if, say for example, they are viewing on a smart phone.
That said, I also take SRX's point that it makes the forum look a tad more interesting.

At the end of the day, people need to voice what they are not happy with - and if they don't, well......what can we do? We do have a strong resistance by some to changes, it would seem and I for one appreciate what you are doing. I think as long as changes are subtle, then no one really has a cause to be upset. But some may not see this one as subtle if it makes their phones take longer to load etc - that is the only problem I see with it. I learned from the last place that changing the artwork was not appreciated in the end - even though I was told to do what I liked before a certain someone 'snapped'. .... I appreciate it can be a tetchy subject. I did also note the task bars changed shape the other week. There are always minor tweaks that you do and I think most people like it kept fresh - but you will never please everyone - same with everything isn't it? As always, you have asked people's take on it which is what makes your leadership style very good. You care what others think.  |

I voted No as well, I found it all looked a bit busy. Sorry.
As Mansell said, It's the content that keeps folk coming back and I reckon that's superb. For me the page layout was pretty much spot-on before.

Sorry Steve - as Ian says, I can appreciate the reasons but to me it looks too 'busy' and cluttered. Less is more as they say - especially when it comes to Design! Noticed the change to the task bar and that looks stylish, but the avatar thing? No.......not really needed IMHO. Crisp and clean is what gets noticed......... |
