Hello all,
My name is Marc and I'm trying to source some more information on our beloved Super Dreams so I can update the Wikipedia article for our bikes.
I have owned a 250 and restored a 400 and have learnt a lot about these characteristic bikes and so whenever I saw how bad the wiki entry was it really irritated me. I have since rewritten the article because the previous writer seemed like a bit of a hater on the Super Dream but I know it's nowhere near complete.
I saw the post detailing the colour codes and model revisions and it was beyond detailed;never knew the ND even existed until today.
I didn't want to use the info on there without asking permission at least first, but also this as an opportunity to get the article as good as possible with a potential joint effort.
Would love to know your thoughts Kind regards Marc

I think we tried to correct the information on the Wikipedia article before, but somebody just kept deleting it as they considered the source to be a "fan site"? We gave up and myself I gave up on Wikipedia's accuracy TBH....
Nice to get a comprehensive history on there though if someone can speak Wikipedia-ese.....

I can understand the frustration of information being taken down even if it's true. There is a user on Wikipedia called eagleash that took down the performance figures because they were not referenced.
I have a few old Bike issues and a sales brochure hopefully bashing about. I'll look for it tomorrow and hopefully that will satisfy the reference police.
I know it might seem a bit sad to some, but for many the Wikipedia is a go to for information and I really want our bikes to be well represented for any potential readers.

Good luck with it. I tried several times to update the entry but it just kept being removed. I lost interest in the end.

I agree, over in the past some articles have been updated with untrue facts and left alone whilst others are given useful bits of info are removed by idiots who remove things because they have the power to not because the info would benefit! You are always going to get the "little hitler syndrome" so if you wish to know about superdreams come here, wickipedia is a waste of time!

Hi Marc,
Firstly, let me extend a very warm welcome to the site.
I echo some of the other guys concerns and suggest this is the place for accurate information on the CB250/400N - we are a group of enthusiasts who know the bikes and how they were and we don't solely rely on literature found in bike publications etc from back in the day, which can also sometimes found to be inaccurate, sometimes wildly.
The subject of Wikipedia has come up before and I believe the last time it surfaced, a member known here as Gee was attempting a more accurate write up. But my understanding was that his information was also taken off the site by individuals who, for whatever reason, wanted control - but more importantly saw it fit to keep the wrong information on there.
I am unsure how Wiki works with regards to who or who does not have permission to edit or delete stuff but either way it is clearly a bit bizarre and in a nutshell, the point you picked up on - it is incredibly inaccurate for this reason.
The write up I did for this site is based on knowing the bikes - and if anything is incorrect it can happily be corrected. This was not written by someone who has never actually owned a CB250/400N which I suspect (looking at the text) is the case with the current info on Wiki.
Anyway, let us know your thoughts.
Regards

Marc may well understand better how Wikipedia works and I welcome his interest and efforts.
Wikipedia seems to like plenty of citing references- but that those references sometimes are not that accurate in themselves. On there now the reference to 250SD's being recycled and re-purposed in the 90's I found to have some basis in truth, but it was hardly a big news item in the whole SD story....

Marc, please don't let it come across that we are anti what you are trying to do. I think it is just we have got a bad experience with some of the people on there who insist on these inaccuracies being on there. If you have the power to change that, more power to you - and I'm sure we can assist where possible.

No not at all, the rubbish about Norton reproduction CB250N's is almost irrelevant, although it has been noted in the code that it may have never happened to come to fruition and so I might just delete it to be honest.
I looked back through the edit history and I could see the info that Gee added and subsequently had removed.
Apart from the Norton section and the paragraph about it being related to the other 400/450 models the rest is mostly me. I'm going to update the model revisions when I have chance. Unfortunately I can't find my 400NC brochure, I really want to get some power and speed figures up from a Honda brochure so I can provide an irrefutable reference.
Thanks for the kind offer of support, I will keep you guys updated.
