Joking aside.......I am kind of in two minds about the old skool guys that have been done for whatever they have been done for.....
Times have changed......is it really fair? I think some people are jumping on the band wagon.

Sorry to revive an old thread.............but I reckon the great Gambo is doing a decent job in TB's absence. I kind of like his 'chilling' American accent as he delivers the hit parade from back in the day, often the eighties.
Glad to see TB reinstated though - even if it is to make the tea...my gut is that this guy has not got a bad bone in his body.

Hi. Yes I have to admit to listening to radio one back in the day. I didn't hear the first record played but would have definately tuned in during the first few days. In 1967 I would have been 14 so well into pop music of the 60's. It was always interesting for me to hear how the government hated the pirate stations and made attempts to clos them down, but as soon as one closed another opened. The government made all sorts of excuses as to why they should be stopped but the main reasons seemed to be that they were not under control and of course no revenue came from them. If I remember correctly pirate stations continued until 1969 and I think one or two have popped up since. Mike.

I listened to it that day, it was a big thing back then, more accessible then Luxembourg or Caroline & more hip than the home service. I was 16 & had left school in July to start commuting to work on my Tiger Cub - pushed it home many times!
