Hi All, I did used to be a member of the forum a while ago, the site seemed to disappear for a while and I have only just found it again! I am based in Welwyn Garden City, Hertfordshire, I have a CB400NA (1980) that I bought cheap as a bit of a bitza, it has now been customized in to a Brat style bike..some of you may remember my old thread..this is how it ended up! I am currently looking for a a new cylinder head for this as the valve seat on mine a fairly bad, I have posted in the wanted section..so please check it out thanks!

Hi revilorellim,
Welcome to the fold....
Re: the head. I wouldn't narrow the search down to just CB400NA - without checking on CMSNL (for example) I am pretty sure other versions of the CB400N used the same head - CB400N & CB400NB I think at least as well.
Good luck in your searches.

Good luck in your searches. Good advice I have just been doing that today after doing my nerd research using cmsnl parts diagrams, part numbers and every photo of a 400SD head I can find...I realized the way to tell which head you have is just to look at the thick- ish block of aluminium between the exhaust ports, there is a code on each one. My 1980 NA has an 'H-4' code, I have seen a 78/79 model with H-3 and another head that I bought, which I now realize was off an NC (with hole for oil-line port between the exhaust ports) was actually and H-8, and also a photo on US eBay with an H-5, so there must be loads of versions; having said that I am not sure what the actual differences are between each one is, or how interchange able they are! But at least I have direct H-4 replacement for mine now

Perhaps check if the part number (or majority of parts attached to it) are the same part numbers....out smart them..
The CB400NC was clearly different as this model had an external oil feed to the head.
