Hi all,
Almost getting to the MOT stage or my build, the bike I have was an unfinished project and the I ended upo with another complete bike that i am using for spares at present. The first bike had the wheels repainted grey and black whilst the other one had the silver wheels which I prefer, but I want the tyres from the painted tyres so I have tyre levers and rim protectors which I've used on my Deauville several times without hitch but this tyre is so tight. Its a 90/90 tyre but even with the protectors on I've dented the rim which has annoyed me, has anyone manage to remove the tyres by hand? Also i can see it has an inner tube, Shouldn't they be tubeless?
Cheers

Where are you working? I personally don't do tyre work when it's as cold as this- if it was urgent I suppose I would apply for a permit to do it in the house as it is much easier when the tyre is warmer. I have a tyre ready to go on but will wait. But I find them reasonably straightforward with a couple of irons and plastic rim protectors?
Another thing that may affect how difficult it is to work the tyre is it's age.

A lubricant such as vaseline or washing up liquid on the tyre rim helps

I was working in the garage, The tyre looks unused but not sure of the age. I've got the levers and the plastic protectors which i use to change my other bikes tyres, but this one is so tight it dented the rim with the protector on.
I work in a garage so I will probably put it on the machine tomorrow and try that. Does anyone know if the wheels are Tubed/Tubeless specific?

As above- we don't know what bike or wheels you have- was this a bitsa you are putting back together?
Early wheels were 1.85" and took tubes, later 2.15" rims were tubeless.

You mention your wheels are silver - therefore they sound like the non reverse comstars......hence from new they were tubed.

Just had a look, both sets are 1.85. The set I want to use are the silver/aluminium style ones. I believe the other set were also the same but have since been repainted. Does anyone recommend a supplier of tubes.
Cheers

Get on ebay and search the tyre size and add the word 'tube' in the search box after. Simples.
For example:
3.60 19 tube.
4.10 18 tube.
